Hyde Park Vineyard is 5 km southwest of Great Western on Mt. Sugarloaf Road. Some 283 acres of established vines growing in rich deep red ferrous soil laced with siltstone on an undulating topography north facing slope among granite-scattered hills and with an ample permanent supply of water.
A deeply coloured wine produced by using a darker grape variety with medium tannin and not too much acidity which allows it to pair well with many foods. Merlot is a grape that performs easily but requires the specific attention for which our vineyard is renowned. From across the whole vineyard we have identified the best rows of low-yielding, highly flavoured vines to produce this palatable Merlot.
